One P.R.I.D.E.

I could speak about the constant propaganda the media uses against black people to convince the world of incredibly misconstructed negative images of our culture and race. From things as trivial as movies, clothing ads, makeup ads, etc. many are falsely constructed. Such as Dove passing an advertisement showing a blatantly racist before and after picture in 2017.

I can even address the puppetry of each President and their puppet masters in Congress that continuously manipulate the masses both openly and obscurely in favour of white supremacy. They do things like close voting stations in certain areas making it harder to access for people of darker skin, while placing an obnoxious leader in the headlines as a form of misdirection. Nevertheless, I’ll instead believe in the willingness of my fellow people to stay educated and see past the labels and look at the fine print.

2020, with the amount of great events happening, I can imagine has left people in a whirlwind of emotion. Frankly, I myself am feeling repulsed. Together: Repulsed, Disheartened, Inspired, Proud and Encouraged. I feel these all mixed together because of the P.R.I.D.E. in my people.

First, repulsed by the many cases of brutality against our black brothers and sisters, repulsed by the fact that although we're more exposed to these cases it's been going on for years, repulsed that the villains responsible are the ones who are supposed to symbolise what is just. They clearly show how they raise themselves above humanity, because to morally acknowledge the simple wrongness of imprisonment of the innocent, is humane. To acknowledge the wrongness of murder is humane. It’s what differentiates us from beasts.

For a long time, black people have been living in a world where justice isn't always truly justice unless your skin was whiter. Leaving me disheartened because I wish there was more I could do for the many suffering.

Yet, I am inspired. Since for the first time in a while, on such a large scale, you can really see people coming together. They too have had enough of watching the horrible acts committed by people in power; the very same people who have enforced and created the law, yet have been the most nonchalant about going against it because they believe they are protected. They are no longer protected.

People are fighting back on every continent, which overall leaves me feeling proud. I am proud of my generation and extremely proud of my fellow humans who are standing together to finally fight for real equality in the world. Not the kind of equality that allows hidden brainwashing, and unofficial and official slavery many black people face in society. Unofficial because they, we and us, especially black men are kept in place, and struggle to rise above a certain life threshold. I'm talking about mental chains, not physical ones. Although, the physical ones haven’t completely disappeared either, like the many migrant workers from the Caribbean who are paid under minimum wage to farm and are then sent back home from Canada. Yes, Canada. Which despite not being on our neighbours’ level of racism still has it, like many countries all over the world.

Still, I am so proud of this unity against the injustice that shows globalization at its finest, which encourages me. So to anyone of colour who may have suffered or is suffering, just know that now you have a unified army against injustice. That there are many others that although may be adorned with different armour in different shades will stand with you until Justice is justice, Equality is equality.

~Please for the victims above, and the many more younger and older, I want each and every individual to look at every case with a microscope and unbiased eyes. Remembering that they were just people, in the same way your mothers, brothers, fathers and sisters, daughters and sons are people.~

Be Smart, Stay Just, Stay Proud as one Pride we are strong
